Transparency Forum today organized a debate in the “Face-off” series of debates, which discussed treatment of the culture by the Municipality of Prizren. To juxtapose views with members of the Transparency Forum, panellists of this debate were Lulzim KABASHI, deputy mayor of Prizren and Urim Ukimeri, coordinator for culture in the Municipality of Prizren. Today’s debate revealed once again the extremely low interest of Prizren Municipality for treating culture as a priority in its local policies.More

Muja to stop threats to journalists

The mayor of Prizren, Ramadan Muja, continues to use disciplinary and threatening language towards journalists regarding the manner of reporting on municipal issues. He misused the public debate on the municipal budget to raise accusations against journalists by alleging they are distorting his words.More

Muja began to open up, but certainly not enough

After continuous calls of Transparency Forum to the mayor of Prizren, Ramadan Muja, to open decision-making process, few days ago he decided to unlock his meetings with heads of directorates for media and civil society. For Transparency Forum this move presents a positive move towards transparency and accountability, but in no way a full fruition of these principles of democratic governance. Therefore, we urge the mayor to follow-up this initial action with other significant steps. Opening the meetings wherein voting is done by default and decisions are taken after being agreed beforehand presents a dim demonstration of transparency and accountability.More

Transparency Forum, on Tuesday evening in Prizren, held the fourth round of the “Confront” debate on the topic “What treatment for the Diaspora?” Panellists in this debate were Mr. Ilir Baldedaj, director of Municipal Administration, Mr. Ruzhdi Hoxha, coordinator of the Civil Registry Office in Prizren and Mr. Vesel Gashi, the Kosovo Police officer. Panellists faced the Transparency Forum members, consisting of journalists and civil society activists and representatives of opposition political parties in Prizren, whereas the debate was moderated by the journalist, Ms. Myrvete Axhami.More
